That's the thing I'm picking him up more now than before, when he was heading for the water. Basically he stays there since I started picking him up more.

Toby would sometimes stay up when my son or I came, but jump down for anyone else. That was in my son's bedroom.

Once he moved to the tank in the basement, he was less likely to stay up, but still would. However, he would swim over and pop his head up and look at us.

After 10 days of pulling him out and forcing antibiotics, he's off the basking platform faster than ever, and will only pop his head above the surface to look at me when he's well under the cover of the basking platform.

I'm hoping that eventually changes.

Hi all, sorry I haven't been on lately (its that time of year for mid-terms:/ ). So a few updates on the tank. Toku is doing fine, basking regularly and is staying on the logs when I walk in the room. He just pays close attention to my actions. He loves to swim through this tank and chase the fish around. The fish are doing fine the female guppies are all gravid and so far about 4 fry have been born. The fish from his old tank have transitioned nicely. With the added room Toku can't catch a fish. All the fish are too fast and have learned when he comes near to stay away. He has up rooted two out of three of the tall fake plants, so I'm gonna probably give it one more shot and then remove them. The moss ball is still intacted. He moves it around the tank but hasn't shredded it yet. I will probably get a couple more of them when I go back to Petsmart. I have decided to use the T5 HO bulbs and fixture. I'm gonna go to Home Depot this weekend and get some hooks and anchors with chain to hang the fixture from the ceiling. I will change out the Actinic bulbs and replace them with two full spectrum bulbs. The two white bulbs are bright and put off a great amount of LUX. I'm unsure of their light spectrum range so I want to add two bulbs I know will produce good amounts of Light in the UVA range. A Spectroradiometer is the next instrument on my list for measuring the lights I use for Toku's lighting. I would like to add live plants but I know he will just uproot and eat them. So I will only add them as a food source, not for aquascaping. A planted background is on the list of future modifications. All in all, I'm very happy with the tank and will post pics as I modify, add to, or take away from the tank. Well, back to studying.

Toku's tank is doing great. The FX5s are working wonders. I do have to clean the older FX5, will do that in the next day or so. I've go the lights ready for the tank, just need to figure out how I want to mount them now. I got a extension cord and a timer for the day light lights. I'm gonna use the T5 HO bulbs. I'm thinking I will mount chain from the ceiling to hang the fixture over the tank.

Be careful with that extension cord business. Can you get a surge protector?

So, I finally got around to hanging the light fixture. Wow the T5 HO's are bright! They add the light that was lacking. I have the MVB coming on at 6:30am and the T5's at 9:00am, the T5's go off at 5:00 pm and the MVB at 7:30pm. So there is dawn and dusk with full daylight in between. It looks nice:) I will post pics when I'm home for the school year.

Yeah dumbork, the tank looks great:) very bright now!

All I need now is a background and I believe the tank will be complete. I took some measurements today and will post the results when I return home for the winter and school. I will say the LUX increased dramatically from around 6,000 in the tank to 12,000 in the tank that is double the lux before. When I get some money saved up I will put in some high LUX output bulbs and add a UVB bulb to the T5 fixture. The fixture holds 4 T5 bulbs, so I will use three high LUX output bulbs and one UVB bulb. Right now there are two daylight bulbs and two blue reef bulbs that I don't turn on obviously. The MVB will remain in it's same position for heat and UV rays.
