Acrylic vs. Glass Tank

I've had my red eared slider for almost about 5 years now. His shell is about 8 inches. He's getting too big for his tank and I was looking into finding a larger one. I was wondering which would be better: acrylic or glass? Will one material hold up better than another (considering it would contain my turtle)? Also, what material would last longest?

I wouldn't use acrylic for a turtle simply because it will get badly scratched. I would either get a large glass tank or a stock tank and make it into a nice pond. :)

I had to make the same decision, I went with glass also.
