also i have another question....whats biomax and biomedia,stars,rings,etc??? i have a aquaclear110 and it came with a sponge and a carbon pouch...i know theres a ammonia pouch too but thats it...can anyone explain these terms to me

Biomedia is for biological filtration. Little bacteria live in them and eat waste, etc.

Posted: Sat Apr 08, 2006 6:16 amI have an Aquaclear 110... I use the carbon and ammonia packets. You can also use ceramic rings/stars. I've never had a problem using just what came with the filter and I've had it for nearly a year now.

Posted: Sun Apr 09, 2006 12:59 pmDidn't you get an ammonia packet or anything other than the sponge and the carbon. Any aquaclear filter I've gotten had 3 different types of media.
