I need a temporary solution for a basking area. I have one of those floating logs and it seems to be losing its bouancy (sp?). I guess it could be also that my turtles have grown quite a bit since I got them. Anyways, when they are on it, it sinks a little and their plastrons aren't getting to dry all the way. I just need a temporary solution until we get our above tank basking area built. Any ideas?

I guess it depends on how big the tank is. I have a milk crate turned upside down in my 125gal. It was a temporary fix that somehow became permanent.
How long til you get your new one built? If it's a matter of days then don't worry too much. Sorry I cant be of more help. I'm not very creative.

My permanent basking area is made of PVC and ceramic tile. It was fairly easy to make and would make a very good temporary basking area. But like Jen says, if its only for a few days, then I wouldn't worry about it.

That's the thing, I'm not exactly sure on how long it is going to take to build it.

I guess it depends on your skills
A PVC platform would only take an hour... if you take your time.
