Hey guys about 2 weeks ago I moved my 3 little RES from a 25 gallon tank to a 70 gallon tank with a new heater, filter and lights...I have a fluval pump with 2 medium sized air stones and I bought a fluval 306 because thats what the guy suggested at the store but im thinking i should have just gone with the 406 because my water is already looking bad to me, any input is helpful...here is my setup brand new Image
and here are my 3 little ones Cosmo, Gizmo and Axel Image
Here is my tank as it sits right now... Image
Here is a side view, notice the almost redish tint to the water Image

New tank looks great. Yea, usually more filtration is better with turtles. You'd probably want to look at an FX6 for some serious power.

Your filter is still under warranty from the store. I would exchange it for the 406 or as Steve said the fx6. Do you have carbon in your filter? I'm not sure what's causing the red tint? Some type of algae bloom maybe. You could try some filter polishing pads and purigen. Tank looks great other than the tint.

I run the older FX5 on my 75G. Kansasslider's FX6 recommendation is spot on especially considering you have 3 RES in there. The 306 would do just fine on that tank if you had guppies, tetras and some community fish. Turtles produce so much waste compared to fish that you really need some hefty filtration.

The red tint could be algae, iron, leeching of color from your decorations, or if you used lava rock in your filter. As mentioned a bag of Purigen in the filter will fix that.
