Driftwood

Hello all!!

This summer I intend to take Sheldon outside for a little swimming and a little basking in her new rubber swimming pool (it is similiar to this http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/fortex-17-1-2-in-w-round-feeder-65-gal-capacity-black).

The issue is that I thought I could find a piece of driftwood at the pet store but I'm not sure that it can get wet as most of what I can find is labelled for terrarium use. Anybody use anything from Petco or Petsmart? Can someone maybe direct to another place I can buy either online or in the store?

Thanks!

A lot of driftwood is too heavy for a basking area, unless it's a full-sized log (which most pet stores don't have, in my experience). A better option is to use a cork slab (best deals are at reptile shows), or a PVC/tile stand. If I recall correctly, Kansasslider even uses a big (flat) stone on top of an upside-down, five-gallon bucket.

Well the swimming pool is just for the occasional trip outside so I wanted it to be something she could sit on if she wanted and something she could swim around. I see your point about the cork slab. Maybe I could snag the stand out of my tank for when she makes these trips outside too.

Thanks for the tips!

What do you think the water level will be?
