I think I should go to some local DIY store and try to find fake grass.


In any case, my main question is about how to glue it to the terrarium’s glass floor, I first thought about liquid glue, but maybe it could leak through the carpet to the surface, and I don’t think it would be good for a wet turtle to be in contact with glue…

I have also read that some people doesn’t glue it at all, so they can remove it and clean it easily. I’m considering this option, but if I don’t glue it, won’t it waggle when she walk over it?

Anything could be dangerous if it's synthetic and she eats it. Plus, it could be loaded with chemicals if it's made for rough outdoor use. Did you look at the link I posted?

Is it actually glass you want to use or something like acrylic? Acrylic you can drill holes into and simply tie the fake turf down. You might want something a little thicker though. Actually if this will be covered, you can go with egg crate (aka light diffuser) and water can drip down after she climbs up.

So I should not put any synthetic plant either? I have seen a lot of people who put those artificial plants all over their tanks, but I guess it's up to the risk each one wants to take... so I'm not sure what to do about that.

I saw the link you posted, but I live in Spain, so the shipping costs are crazy for such a cheap product, I need to find something similar here. I just went to a local DIY store and bought something similar, the 'grass' is very short so I don't think she will be able to eat it, not even try it at all. This is what I bought:






The terrarium will be made of glass, so I don't think that drilling holes would be easy. In principle I didn't think that would be an issue, the carpet should just dry off, isn't it?

The floor's thickness will be 0.6cm, did you say that it should be thicker? Why? Maybe it could break?

I would try hobby shops and florists for similar products. When the material is then, there could be a bit of flex to it. I would look into egg crate or acrylic. Most people don't use glass for an atba unless it's a repurposed tank.

But what do you think about the carpet I bought? I find it similar to the one you linked before.

I have been taking a look to egg crates for the floor but I don't like them too much... what's exactly the problem with glass? danger of being broken? The glass maker told me that 0.6cm is tough.

I decided to use glass for the entire ATBA because her tank is placed outdoors, well, not exactly outdoors but in a balcony, and I was told that acrylic material would decay on those conditions.

The one I linked to is not matted, and more plasticy. I think it will hold up better against water and moisture.
