I wanted to have some levels so if the water evaporates he still can get up on the basking area and bask.. In his old tank in one 24 hr period the water went down far enough he couldn't climb on the rock to get dry..

Sorry not very Clear. but for some reason where I have the tank, my tablet has a hard time not over exposing pictures.

Looks very nice! I think the natural looking ones seem to make them feel a bit safer.

yeah we were lucky enough to find these stones around an old cut down tree in the yard.. just scrubbed em up and built up the platform. I do worry as he gets bigger they may shift. I like the formation but hesitate to cement them together.. cause we will probably fill this tank to full as he gets bigger so we would need to build up more..
We want to get black sand for bottom.. Just waiting to see if it goes on sale at DFS or not.. Would love to get a natural piece of drift wood for in there.. But being there are no lakes nearby that is gonna prove difficult..lol

How high is that platform? A resin one will work for you as well, and it's sort of a bridge so Philbert can swim under it.

the tank is 19" high and the platform is just above half way.. we have the tank filled half full.. so he went from 5g of swimming area to 20 gallons overnight. I think he will have plenty of room for a while in this tank, especially if he turns out to be a male. Still hoping to do some sort of indoor pond for him eventually..

The Fluval U4 is doing an awesome job keeping the tank clean for now.. But I may have to buy a bubbler.. even though I have the filter set to break the water surface there tends to be oily film at basking side where the water is calm.. Might put a bubbler there..

Kansas the moss is in back corner.. It doesn't seem to spread,, as I said I think its getting too much moisture..I left the front part clear just so he has a choice.. but he loves it so much,, next time I am out for a hike I am gonna grab more and cover most of the top shelf.. the rocks underneath are just starting to get algae, I kind of like the natural look of that..
