Hello all.

I am looking into upgrading to a 75 gallon aquarium for my RES. However, my living room doesn't have the space to harbor that size tank.

The only place I would have that amount of space would be in my basement. However, since its an older house, the basement is practically all cement and not very well insulated.

Though I feel the summers are okay for the aquarium since its warmer (though the basement itself is still kinda cold) but I am worried about the winter. I don't want my turtle freezing due to the cold Canadian winter

Any thoughts?

It's doable, though you'll have a lot of evaporation and you'll need to run a couple of heaters.

I read that I should run 5 watts per gallon for colder areas. For a 75 gallon tank, I'm looking at 375. So would two 200-watt heaters work in theory?

The 5 watts is an estimate but yes, two of them should work.
