Well, I bought a new floating dock for my turtles because their log was losing its bouancy. Today was the first whole day its been in there and they are finally getting use to it in their tank. I was sitting at the computer and I heard something fall. I wasn't going to look to see what it was, but I changed my mind and found one of the turtles in the floor. It shocked me too because I thought it would be the other turtle to escape. I checked her over and she had to cracks or scratches or anything. About the time I got to her, she was fixing to take off running. I fixed the problem with a piece of plexi glass and some veggie clips. She was also acting fine, which I was glad of. Just thought I would share this with you.

Eep!!

I'm glad to hear that she's alright!

I've never had mine escape, although I did have him fall down a few steps once while I was cleaning his tank and changing his water...He crawled out into the hallway and mosied along the hallway, and clunk clunk clunk down the first 3 steps (carpeted).

Scared the bajebus out of me...Luckily he was alright. :)

She probably fell about 4 feet. I've never had to worry about it until now I guess.

happened to me too. I thought it was secure but obviously I was wrong. Rocks fell about 4 feet to the floor and I found her at the other end of the apartment under my treadmill. She was covered in fuzz/hair/dust (never been much of a housekeeper ) and she'd cracked her shell and taken a chunk out of her chin. She was seen by a vet the next day and cleared.

I've had mine escape but that was when it was in the death bowl. The little basking spot wasn't near big enough for the turtle so I put a rock in the water to expand the area. The turtle ended up escaping climbing over the edge of the plastic by means of the rock. It crawled into a diaper (my sister wasn't potty trained then  ) and when I discovered it there it looked limp, but when I put it back in water it acted like normal. Theoretically, isn't a diaper supposed to rob the turtle of moisture, forcing it into dehydration?

I had something similar but I had taken my turtle out of the aquarium while I was cleaning the aquarium. She had climbed out of the basin I put her in. Luckily the basin was on the floor. I figured since they can't really climb it wouldn't be too hard to find her but I couldn't find her anywhere even after going over ever inch of the floor twice. I even moved the washing machine and dryer. I couldn't figure it out. I eventually found her in a shoe. She had climbed all the way to the toe.

Mine haven't escaped from their tank, but both have pulled a Houdini from temporary holding containers (I call them penalty boxes ;))
