New Tank now Erwin won't bask

Last Wednesday I upgraded from a 20 gallon tank to a 50 gallon tank. I have the exact same basking area set up in the same place for Erwin but he refuses to get on it. I put a new background on with rock ledges and he keeps trying to climb the glass like he's trying to get on the rocks. Should I remove the background or change it?

If you have already tried setting him on the basking area and he won't take to it...and it's been several days, you may need to consider removing the back drop until he is familiar with his current basking area. It may just be too many changes at once for him, despite it being the same dock.

I have several times set him up there. I'll remove it for now and see how he does. Thank you

Has the water/basking area temperatures changed?
