I have a 90 gallon tank with 2 R.E.S., 1 14" and 1 7" I operate a top line filtration system, I cycle the water, habitat has platform and basking light, and aquatic gravel rock, and aquatic larger rock with app. 65 gallons of water. Treated as required. This tank has always maintained flawlessly, and now it will not stay clean, and the odor returns in a few days. I have completely cleaned, filled, and treated this tank. This is unexplainable. I am not a novice so it really has me dumbstruck. Can anyone help please?

It's probably both cycling and struggling to keep up with the load. What else do you keep in there? What media is in your filter?

14" + 7"= 21" of turtle you should have 210 water area for them (10 gallon for every inch of turtle) and a pump 2-3x's that rating for turtles messy nature.

No one of them is 7 inches ! The other must be female and I've seen some huge female red eared sliders she should be in at least a 150 gal her self. But not everyone can afford the proper size tank but as long as the turtle gets food clean water and proper basking then it's not really cruel . id say fill the tank completely and build an ATBA so the turtles have max space . but they seem like they know turtles so I'm sure they know all this stuff .

210 gallons??? That's alot. They've been in a 55 gal. For 5 years, my father gave them to me, I put them in a 90. I've been cycling every 2 days to keep it in control. I'll send pics of the big one.

Not letting me post images, I will figure this out. She was measured by a.s vet at 14.03" the image I am attempting to send reflects the size difference of the boy, average size, and her!

Ok, I am creating a photobucket now. R.E.S females do get large, she's considered above average. I run a 200 gal. Filtration due to their messy nature. She is very territoral, I did have them in a custom 150 gal. Set up, she was not happy at all! Her health dropped so I dropped tank size they were raised in a 55 gal. But that was absurdly small. They love the 90 gal. But eat anything that moves including her eggs regardless of dry plat. She bites everyone except for me so far.

Feel free to email it to me, and I'll post them for you. Were there a lot of differences in that 150 gallon? How long did you give it a go?
