[Help] Pregnant turtle!

Hi guys,

My female res, approx 9 inches are both showing signs of egg laying behavior. I have a sandbox approx 2.5 x 2 feet and 3 feet deep, with a strong mvb bulb shining on this area. I have a ramp connected to this sandpit which makes easy for turtles to access. However, in the past 48 hours, these 2 ladies have been pacing up the sandpit and back into the water for at least 20 times a day, and at times even seen trying to eacape from the enclosure.
Is this behavior normal for pregnant females? Anything i can do better to help them lay?

Is this their first time being gravid? Have they used the box before? Most indoor setups are turned down by gravid RES.

You could try to upgrade the sandbox, with more plants, higher level of sand, move things around... Reptiles are very picky about nesting.

If it's warm and sunny where you are, try outside and let her choose a spot... under your careful supervision. Areas where there is a garden could be a good spot.

PokePony... they are so very picky.... such incredible maternal instincts.
