Were you able to get a stool sample last time? I'm a bit doubtful if its parasites, but it'll be great to rule anything out.

Well I had brought in a stool sample when I was worried about his behavior, which was weeks before the worms.

I'm as curious as you are about this. What's Sedge been eating (or has been)?

Well I did a 90% water change a few days ago (no additional cleaning for now) and no worms visible for now.

He's just eating pellets and lettuce most of the time. Occasionally carrot strips.

Once in awhile he gets some of an algae wafer or freeze dried treats (mealworms, crickets, shrimp).

Now he DID eat live fish- he ate all the Serpae Tetra in the tank (about 7) and I don't have any fish now. But I had had them for months before that and he had eaten one or two. He wised up and went on a killing spree one day though, and that was the end of them... maybe they had parasites?

I believe said "killing spree" was post earlier vet trip.

If they were in there for a few months, I think you would've seen the worms earlier.

Do you think there could ever be worm eggs in freeze dried treats? Seems unlikely, but I once thought I saw eggs inside a cricket. Maybe I should throw out the treats (or maybe I'm just being paranoid).

I also think it's unlikely though I do recall one or two people claiming something like that before.

Huh interesting. I think I'll toss them to be safe.

Ugg. So, after the worms came back and I did a 90% water change, I didn't see any for a bit. Of course, they came back again, and I've been meaning to do a water change, but I've been sick with a stomach flu for a few days and I've been neglecting the turtle tank. I'm going to do a big water change today... but the worms are out of control, so I took some more pictures. I wish I could bring the poop to the vet today, but it's Sunday. I could wait another day for a water change but that seems gross.

They are free floating, and mostly, wriggling around on the bottom. But there's also a ton of them decomposing the poop, it seems, making it look all 'aerated'. Gross.

I remember reading that thread before my little forum break. Gosh... You still don't know where they come from?

Wellllll..... I brought a new sample to the vet and guess what? His poop is loaded with roundworm eggs! Have to wait till Monday when the doc gets in so he can prescribe meds. But I guess they are roundworms after all! Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of them :)

Ugg well the first dose of Panacur ended up all over his face. I hope he got some. The vet said cleaning with soap and water + letting everything dry for a few minutes should do it. I hate to buy ALL new filter material again, but maybe I should. I dunno. The next dose is in 10 days, although I told the vet I'm not sure how much got in him the first time, so I'm not sure if he will tell me anything else when he calls back.

I hope I haven't ingested any roundworm eggs D-:
