Habitat - Indoor :: Huge tank for hatching?

I have a 50-gallon tank and I'm getting a mud turtle hatchling. Is the tank too big for the little thing? I'm worried that it might just drown The tank is 1ft 6 inches deep, 2ft 6 inches long, and 1ft 3 inches wide.

You don't need to fill the tank up, and you will need to have a good deal of land area for a mud turtle. If you know what kind of mud turtle, I would check out some of the care sheets out there for them.
