Does too much dechlorinator cause problems?

Yesterday I changed the water in the container (I have yet to buy the new tank). It's a 12 gallon container and I fill it roughly 3/4 of the way up.
That's about 8 gallons, though I bet it is less. I put about the right amount of dechlorinator for 8 gallons, but I'm sure I put too much. Will this cause problems for the turtles.

Can it be really harsh if its a little over? I'm sure it's just a shade over the right amount.
