i found BABY SNAPPER on the road far from any water sourse.....i have him in with my res now but fear he'll never get a chance to eat over the res.....the snapper in only 2 inchs long and my res is 4 inches....what do you all think

Snapping turtles should not be kept with any other turtle. According to my quick search at www.austinsturtlepage.com, your snapping turtle could kill your RES regardless of size.

That being said, it isn't advisable to take any wild creature out of the wild. Not only is that turt not used to being kept in a tank with limits, you don't know what diseases you have just exposed your own turtle to.

Best to find a spot that is better suited to the snapper and let him go.

I agree with missibsu, snappers probably fare better in wild than in a captive environment.

(Somewhat relevant- I hear RES are starting to overtake the wildlife in some areas due to a large amount of people getting duped into buying them from petstores, and having to release them. Anyone know anything about this?)

It's been a problem for awhile now. In some areas the RES are taking over where they weren't even native to begin with. Sad to say that people can't think of better options than letting them go. Also sad to think of the number of them that don't surivive.
