I've got two turtles from my mom's school and I now have the go ahead to get them a better suited habitat. They dont really want to part with money to get a glass aquarium. I am wondering if a 110 gallon stock tank or a 110 gallon preformed pond would better suit these turts. The stock tank would have deeper water but the pond would have more surface area and this is what is causing me the dillema. If I chose the pond they dont want to have to put a top on it if they dont have to.

A stock tank will also be more portable than a pond. What are the dimensions you have picked out for the pond and the stock tank? How big are the turtles? Will this be indoors or out?

A preformed pond would have to be supported if you do not sink it into the ground. A stock tank is more portable, like Steve said.

It was my understanding that stock tanks are more durable than the preformed ponds as well, but I could be wrong.

I have looked at both and those stock tanks are pretty thick. I would pick a stock tank. So I am with what everyone else says.

There are ponds that have a flat base but they are not as durable as a stock tank. The pond would have a wider surface area and a curvy shell. Some stock tanks can also be fitted with a drain which would make cleaning much easier.

Portability will depend on the stock tank (they're not all Rubbermaids). I'd go with a stock tank--- most of the preformed ponds I've seen have ledges that take up space for water. If the turtles aren't hatchlings, I would think you'd want more swimming space.
