Hi guys 'n' girls ermmm just wanted to ask one question.

Once my RES reaches 9-inc would i require an upgrade if i brought a 70+
Gallon U.K tank as it is equvliant to your 90 Gallon U.S tanks.

Its just that when you say 90-Gallon U.S tank over here in London U.K it
will be a 77 Gallon instead of 90 Gallon.

your 90 Gallon U.S will be are 77 Gallon U.K.

90-Gallon U.S & U.K Tank's
---------------------------------------------------
90 Gallon U.S Tank = 91 Gallons / 350 Liters
90 Gallon U.K Tank = 77 Gallons / 350 Liters

would that mean your 90 Gallon is not really a 90 Gallon but more less of
a 90 Gallon if you say i can't use a 77 Gallon at all.

They both hold the same amount of liters.

Please correct me if i'm wrong lol as i'm abit confused :? today. lolllllll

Many Thanks, Jagz

They are the same size tanks it's just that the US gallon is I believed based on quarts not liters therein lies the difference.

1 US Gallon - 4 quarts
1 UK Gallon - 4.8 quarts

Hope that makes some sense.

btw, 90 gallons US equals 74.94 UK gallons :)

So its ok to get a 75 Gallon U.K tank instead of a 90 Gallon U.K tank. Yeh ???

Just need a confirmination on that then i can start putting a shopping list
together for "Terry" my RES.

Thanks, Jagz

One thing to consider when buying a new tank is the dimensions. Can your fella Terry cruse comfotably end to end without banging into things? Can he turn around ok? The dimensions on my 90 gal. are 48" long x18" wide x 24" deep. If the tank you are looking at is that approx. size, you should be ok..

It's not just the amount of water that is important but also the "footprint" of the water. As grey goose said the dimensions are important. It's better to have a longer tank than a deeper tank for instance. So check out the dimensions of your tank and see if there is sufficient space.

Many thanks for the help guys.

Yeh depth is not that important then footprint like you said which is why
i'm going to opt for a pre-formed pond. :)

The only problem with the pre-formed pond i will be getting is that it is only
55Gallon U.K [66 Gallon U.S] but the footprint is quite big allowing him to
swim freely.

The Pre-formed pond it self:

Please see link: Here

Please note that i'm limited on funds [cost] and room space but i'm
currently allocating some space for this pre-formed pond.

Looks like me pc desk is going out the window.

Thanks again for the help.

Regard, Jagz

I will post a shopping list once i have finished.

Have you considered a stock tank?

I can't get hold of stock tanks and aquriums are too expensive. This is the only
viable option that i can take.
