This maybe a stupid question but can I add Fake plants to my tank set up?? If I can will my two baby turtles eat the fake plastic plants??

Also what kind of fake plants can I add??

There are a lot of variety of different plastic plants to choose from at stores like petsmart.. I would suggest natural looking plants.. I wouldnt get bright orange. Plastic plants are great, they provide a natural environment as well as a place for your turt to hide.. take a look at the photo section, there are many great ideas on how to set up these plants.. My turt sometimes snaps at the plants, thinking its lettuce, but then realizes it right away that it isn't.. I have never had a problem, it's too hard for her to actually bite a piece off... just choose styles that go together and look natural!

Make sure that the fake plants don't have any small pieces, or parts that come off. If you are using plants that weren't designed for aquariums, make sure they don't have any metal in them that will rust. Plastic plants are easier to clean than the silk ones, but they are cheap and easy to replace as well. Find what you like and go with it. Your turts may take a nip or two, but they will learn.

Do you think i could make a little "hiding area" out of some fake grasses and stuff? Just because as of now i'm still trying to figure out how to keep real plants alive.

I can never remember who it was, but someone used fake plants and suction cups, using hot glue made resting places. It's possible that a similar thing could be done to make a hiding spot.

I never thought of that. I was trying to figure something out... That sounds good!!! I used suction cups with alligator clips to hold down plants, but i didnt like the idea of potential rust... So now i use the wraps that weight it down

Hey I just bought a plant ment for lizards and stuff and it is attached to a suction cup, there is some metal in the base of the plant where the suction cup is but you could easily cut off the plastic there exposing the metal core and then pull the metal stick out. I stuck the suction cup to the back side of my aquarium and no it acts as a hiding spot. My two baby turtles always hide there now.
