Hello all! I've seen many post about a vinegar solution to clean the tank. Can this be used to get rid of water spots from my res splashing around. I'm some what anal and like the glass above the water line to be crystal clear all the time. Thanks!!

I had a similar problem... and yes, using white vinegar can and does get rid of those water spots. You may also need a straight edge, something like a glass scraper which you should be able to get most anywhere. I could barely see through the part of the tank that didn't have water in it.. and now its "nearly" crystal clear. My arm got tired from all the scraping, so what's left will wait until the next cleaning

There is a product in a green plastic jug called CLR ( Calcium-Lime-Rust ). It will save you from scraping and possibly scratching the glass. It's kinda acidic so use it with care. I use it on a terry-cloth wash cloth and only down to the water line. Then I soak some paper towels and wipe the glass down to remove the CLR. Works good! George \

P.S. Will also clean the brown out of a stainless steel thermos and the calcium deposits out of a tea kettle.

Well where were you when I asked about this particular subject before.. you could have saved me all that scraping ...

I'm sorry, Cam. I know I've posted that info before because it works so well and is a idal solution (no joke) to water marks on our habitat glass. George

Thanks George.. a little bit of exercise never did hurt anyone... so my right arm is a bit bigger than the other now.. I can live with it
