not sure if i missed this in any other posts, but is there any way to safely repair a crack in an aquarium? i'm a bit worried about sealers-worried it might be toxic. also, my neighbor found a large quantity of tadpoles in her back yard. is it safe to use them as feeders?

How badly is it cracked? I would think if it's not too bad aquarium silicone could be used to patch it.

I wouldn't feed frogs as feeders, even tadpoles.

well, it's a 25 gal tank, and there are 2 cracks that go diagonally across the bottom-one longer than the other. this may sound stupid, but would duct tape work?

I don't think so. A gallon of water weights about 8.3 lbs. and that's a lot of pressure for duct tape to handle. I wouldn't even try it. Is it worth it to have the bottom replaced and resealed? If not, I'd just get another tank (look for a used one) or a different container that's an appropriate size, like a stock tank.

I wouldn't event think about repearing that, that is trash. The duct tape would become wet and fall off anyway.

i'm trying some silicone repair gel-supposed to be good for up to 30 gallons-gonna put water in it overnight before i put her in it-after the 48 hour drying time is up. if not then i'm off to the pet store for another.

1. Would you want to put your children in a bedroom with a window that was broken and rigged?

2. Are you keeping the tadpoles for "pets" or for feeding the turtles, because I recall somewhere on the forums that they're not healthy for the turtles to eat.

ok, first off-as much as i like my turtles-i do not and will not compare them to my children ever.
now, with that said, i have no worries about jagged glass-the silicone is covering the cracks and there will be rocks on the bottom. also, as i said, i will be doing an overnight test run with the aquarium filled before putting isabelle back in it.
thank you all for advice given, i ended up going to home depot and finding silicone gel for aquariums that is covering the cracks well...we'll see how well it holds water the morning after tomarrow. she's back to her 10 gal tank for now-until i know it will hold water safely.
thanks again=)
