I have seen pictures of RES with mud on them, but I don't remember reading about them liking it, I think that they will burrow into the mud when it comes to hibernating, other than that, I don't know. :?

RES are aquatic and like to swim (and bask and eat). I don't think they enjoy "playing" in mud. Animals that I can think of offhand that like mud, though, are pigs and hippos (but I'm not sure if they "play").
