Hello everyone,

Okay I am getting ready to finally move my turtles outside. I live in central Florida and it is starting to be the rainy season (thank goodness). My question to you guys is: is there a mosquito repellent that I can put in the turtle pond to keep the mosquitoes away? I want something that is turtle safe.

mosquito fish or rosy red minnows help keep the mosquitoes down. they eat the larvae. good luck

ps also the mosquito fish breed as fast as guppies. birth their live. and are a hardy fish.

Turtles eat both of them so watch how many there are and if they have places to hide.

yes they will but there pretty fast. i find having aquatic plants in the pond give them places to hide and the plants help the pond to stay balanced and the turts will eat the plants also

They make these mosquito contraptions that are like giant vacuum kind of things, you place them on your property and they emit like carbon dioxide or something (that attracts the mosquitos) and they suck them up and kill them. I don't think they are outrageously priced and they would help control the mosquitos around the humans too.

I'd agitate the water surface with a powerhead. I've seen big box fans with netting in the back to trap flies. I have yet to try it... but it is an interesting idea, albeit a noisy one.
