I live in La Mirada (between O.C and L.A county) is there anyone over here that has a outside pond with RES ? ? If so how has that been working out ? I'm thinking of getting a 100 gallon Rubbermaid and keeping my RES outside..They are to small right now but maybe in the future...

yes. When renting, I had my turtles for years in 150 gallon rubbermaid until we were able to buy a house and build our pond. Now they are SOOOOO much happier.

I'm thinking in about 1-2 years a 150 gal. Rubbermaid stock tank..I don't have room for a pond...Unless I go hardcore and build a custom sized above ground tank..Who knows I'm still gathering information.

Southern CA would be a good climate to have your RES outdoors 12 mo'.s per year. Home Depot has the outdoor habitat ponds.

I have miy big girl in a 100 G in the back year round. I'm in Burbank so sometime the temp drops to the 30's in March and the fountain freezes but she remains fine, just inactive.

I also live in Southern California in Orange County, I have a RES in the backyard pond. Do i have to worry about how cold it gets at night? And is the temp at night unsafe for the turtle w/o a heater?

I would think the Santa Ana area would be fine for year round outdoor habitat. I would not let the water temp. dip below about 60 degrees, w/out a heater. I am in AZ and our RES's water temp dips down to about 55 degrees in the dead of the winter here, and she is fine, but I wouldn't let it go any further.

I live in Mission Viejo and have a RES in a outside pond. It's a plastic pond liner from Home depot and it's above ground. I have heaters in it for the cooler weather like now. My heaters are on all the time and I am about to buy a 3rd heater to try and keep the water above 70 and that's getting hard with the 2 heaters I have now, there old.
