Two days ago I woke up, and I saw trought my window, something white moving in my pond.
I went to check it out, and my larger Koi maybe 7inch was half eaten.
Could it be that he died? or did my RES corner him and killed him?
My RES is a bout 5 inch long. Should I be worried about the rest on my Koi? I have some smaller feeder fish in my pond.
Any comments welcome.
Thanks you.

I'm guessing it was your turtle. The size of the fish doesn't really matter. At my local Petland they have a pond with res and cooters and several koi...we're talking 2 feet long and the turts were only 8 inches or so. They ganged up on one of the fish and ate most of it.

My kois eat other kois, so I wouldn't be suprised if a turtle ate one. Eventually, all prey will be eaten, no matter how long it takes. I do believe that koi aren't the best treats for turtles. As a goldfish, koi's don't have much of a nutritional value and are fatty.
I would probably replace the turtle into a seperate area, now that you know that the turt has eaten one.

Steve
Nice to meet You, I am the curator of the japanese Garden at the V.A. Hospital in W.L.A..
Steve what probably happened is a young Koi, and a young Res met at the bottom of your pond. The Res waited while the young Koi came closer, just at the right moment the res struck grabbing te Koi's snout, now holding on to the confused fish another juvinile res joined in hearby causing the fatal injuries. Steve if there were no other juvinile's it could be that the injuries caused by the first attacker were enough to cause an infection that Did kill your K.O.I.
