Today when i came home from work, my kids had told me that one of my turts had died, they were all alive last night before i went to sleep. My son found #2 floating on the top of the water. Theyve been eating regularly, i think he might have gotten partially stuck under a large rock, i think he might have drowned, but if so how come he was floating? I dont think it was the kids, cause mom was home and she doesnt let them go in the backyard by themselves, for fear of drowning in the pond, and i have no problems with animals, only the ocasional bird and there was no signs of injury to him. Sometimes they lay partially under the rocks. Any suggestions on the funeral? R.I.P #2

If you still have the turtle, a necropsy might yield some answers. But with no visible injuries or observable symptoms, you can only guess what happened.

yea, i already burried him/her in my backyard, it was atleast 3 ft deep. After the 2nd day, it started bleeding out its butt area cause i put it on the floating log to make sure it was really dead. Started turning dark on its flesh so i assumed it really was dead.

that sucks. I would hate to come home to find my turtle floating at the top of the tank.
