Basically I add like a wood plank that's nice and flat, as large as I can get it hopefully. I would use bricks to put it up in the air high enough for the pool and then mite use bricks on the side so they can not get off the dock and get away. I also want to set up some fencing around the WHOLE Thing so i know they cant get away. I want to put it on the side of the pool and have a little area for them to walk up it and onto the wood to bask. I was thinking about putting a top over ALL the water that way they can go in and out if they want and have something covered for shade and darkness and then if they want, come on the dock and bask a little in the all natural sun. what do you guys think?

i like it but i have a suggestion for shade.

if u move the basking area over top of the pool a little it can provide some shade

Yeah I want to just cover the whole top of the pool that way they have some place to hide just in case a bird of prey comes to visit. We have huge vultures here and also GIANT hawks and eagles...

so it would be like a tower? with two levels? and like eggcrate as the basking area for light to get through?

picture the basking platform a Flat piece of thin wood. Like a big square piece of wood. I would then put some bricks all around the sides so they could not get out at all, and then stack something under to set the wood on so its a little above the pool. Make something for them to crawl up on to get onto the dock of course, then ide fill the pool up as much as i could, then put maybe the top of the pool on it and cut out a hole so they can get to the basking area. I would not have a top on the basking so that they have direct sunlight coming down on them.

Well all i can suggest is a shade area on one half of the basking area maybe?

having a piece of wood above it..or whatever haha

and make sure you have enough height on the basking area so they cant escape

and what i mean by that is where the ramp starts for the basking area..there is a little slit that isnt fenced

you would be surprised how many turtles would try that route

but i love the idea really do

If you're going to that much trouble for an outdoor pond, you should find something a lot deeper. Also, it should be predator proof.
