I am putting a pair of RESs outside as they are full grown (oldest about 45 y/o) & even a 125 gal indoor tank is too small. We live in So Arizona, about 4,300 ft elevation so se get mild winters but winters none the less (average day hi 70, low 25) We are putting in a 1st class pond, & waterfall. My concern is how best to maintain an exceptable temp & what should that temp be? thomiturtle

If you put turtles outside this time of the year they should be fine if Arizona has 80+ degree weather for a few more weeks. Your turtles need to acclimate before winter.

Plus if there is nothing stopping the turtles from getting out, they will leave the pond and be lost. On the other hand, if there is nothing protecting your pond(ie. net) Raccoons or Herrings are going to get your turtles.

Just curious. What size is a 45 y/o RES?
