New outdoor home, just getting started

Well it was time to move our RES outside. They were getting to big for the three aquariums and so I needed a solution. We ended up finding a large stock tank on craigslist for 100.00. It is 8' across and 30" deep. I still need to build a basking station in the middle. Plans include putting a inside ring 6' and fill the space between it and the outside walls with water plants. Currently filters are 2Remstars, but will need to build some kind of skippy filter, or barrel filter. I put some of their old basking stations in the tank for them to hide under or relax on.

Wow, so many possibilities with that tank. Are all the RES getting along?

I have thought about building a nesting/basking area in the middle. it would be raised and they could swim and hide under it. Thinking of using some kind of tub then it could have some grasses planted as well. Big on ideas low on cash. Hopefully their old tanks will sell on craigslist and I can use that for upgrades.

A small tub, stock tank or kiddie pool would be pretty good. Shouldn't be hard to find a variety of sizes to fit your requirements.

This is very cool. Just watch the temp of the water in the summer heat. Are you going to be keeping them outside during the winter?

been awhile since I have posted, the turtles wintered outside great and are enjoying the new home. Working on a skippy filter but just added a uv clairifier, to hopefully help clear up pond.
This one shows the water fall and future filter, taken after hose broke and emptied tank over night.
