Well, if you can keep the land turtle from falling into the water, I guess it would be ok. It would make me nervous about keeping a land turtle close to where it could drown to death. :(

If you would tell me what type of land turtle you have, I can tell you if you need to worry about it could 'drown to death' (oxymoron?). If it's a Box Turtle, they can swim just fine as long as they can get out of the water onto dry land. They are not baskers, as they are not aquatic type turtles like Red Eared Sliders or Painted Turtles. Most Boxies have their own little 'get-wet-spots' in the woods. It could be a little pond or even a small depression in the ground filled with rain water. I used a roller paint pan buried flush in the ground and a wooden box for a place to get out of the sun and to sleep in. I had a 6 by 10 dog run with 1 by 6 boards along the inside of the fence as a protection. Anyway, let me know what it is and I'll help you work out a good habitat. George :D :D

Hey, Stray,
Your little pic of the old turtle (me) in front of the mirror and your oxymoron (drown to death) have just made my day. My wife and I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. You are a Platinum Asset to this forum. I really have enjoyed your posts. I wish I wasn't such a 'computer illiterate' so that I could post pics and get my own avatar. Ah well! Maybe someday. George :D :D

I made that avatar for you so you could use it as your avatar, feel free to use it, that is what it was meant for :D

Two ways you could do it is:
1. First, right click on on the gif, scroll down to "Properties" and copy
the url address.
2. Click on "Profile" at the top of the page scroll down to the avatar
section and in the "Link to off-site Avatar:" paste the url address.

The other way is to copy the gif to your computer and upload it to your online album and then copy the link and paste it to the "Link to off-site Avatar:" part of "Profile"

You really shouldn't mix turtles that have vastly different living requirements--one or both are going to suffer in the long run.
