Habitat - Outdoor :: Outdoor Heater

Ponds and other outdoor enclosures.

My pond is pretty big and outside and it is supposed to get down into the 30's next week. My sliders have been brumating under the green algae that grows in their tank. What do you think about putting a heat lamp of some kind? Will they be okay without heat?

How big is the pond actually? Depending how big your pond is it should be okay. The heat lamp will do nothing for him being outside.

My enclosure is approximately 4 ft by 4 foot and has abundant natural plant growth that they love to hide under, the deepest end is about 3, to 3.5 ft deep. My enclosure is an atrium in the center of my house so it is only open to the outside by no roof. I have posted a picture of it on this forum. It will only be in the 30's for one night and will warm up pretty quick so I had hoped they would be okay but don't want to take any chances!
