Check out the fun we have out side we our turtles new "playpen" :D

The girls are totally enjoying it but am learning as we go how to 1. Make it safe. Our big girl Stevie escaped and we haven't seen her since  so chicken coup wire is now across the top! 2. i buried two water sources so they could cool off in water and we feed them outside in these. Just have to refill fresh each new day-they get muddy in 5 minutes. 3. the video tells most but ask questions and offer suggestions! Thanks!Image

Looks pretty good. What's holding down the mesh?

We used small picture nails all around the wood to permanently nail it down. The hole in the center is for putting them in and then we put wood sticks across that. But so far they cant get to the hole since it is in the middle. But with these two I never know if one might climb on the mother's back since that is how they bask! My oldest dd and I actually set our lawn chairs around the playpen and hang out too.
***just rewatched video and I guess I shot it before putting in the 2 water baths but will reshoot when I do some more adjustments***

A little shade would make everyone a lot happier.

Thank you Linus. We have so far relied on putting a piece of our children's plastic gym equipment over one corner and they do hid there sometimes mid-day. Any ideas on a more permanent(less ghetto, lol) way?

Maybe a wood plank?

Are you planning on developing a pond?

I like the corrgugated plastic idea. Found out today we need to go around the edge with a 1x4 to prevent them sticking their heads through the wire(tweedle specifically!). The bottom is of our Nubs enjoying the "pond/pool" with lots od dandilion leaves to munch.

Yeah. this has a pond-in-disguise feel to it.

Thank you for the link Linus!
You could say it is my ghetto mini turtle farm. I so want a pond setup but not this summer. Looking at stock tank setup. Will check that link now... :)
