The ground at my house is basically summer-hardened clay--and since the season is almost over, anyway, I'll probably dig it next spring, when the ground is softer.

I will be sure to post those pictures when the time comes, though! Thanks again, for all your help!

I got my driftwood from an LFS it's a small piece compared to what you're looking for. so far i have boiled it twice to sanitize it and make it bleed in the water, it's being soaked at the moment still leaching tannins. How do you plan to sanitize a big driftwood log before putting it into the pond? I'm asking because I'm curious if there's a way around boiling it.
