Habitat - Outdoor :: Yaddle's New Outdoor Pond

Ponds and other outdoor enclosures.

This is what I came up with to keep Yaddle outside for the warmer months. It still needs to be prettied up more... but I like where I am with it for now.

Yaddle has been inside since 2006, when I got her as a little turtle.

It is a 400 gal stock tank. I just have a regular pond filter in a plastic storage container filled with scrubbies etc for water circulation. My plan for now is to change out the water on the weekends.

We are in Houston, there are tons of wild RES around these parts.

I have a top for it but I'm not sure if I want to use it. I think Yaddle might be big enough not to worry about birds, even hawks.

The plan is to bring all of this into the garage during the cold part of the year. I have a new Fluval FX6 for that.

Right now I'm a little worried about her water temp, it's 60 degree F ( viewtopic.php?f=7&t=35902 ) but it should be 10 degrees warmer - in the low 80s by Saturday.

It looks great! Probably a lot for her to check out. I would definitely use the top, especially at night. I think she might want a kind of different basking area however, maybe with more of a ramp.

Hi

I am happy to report that she is basking regularly. There are little logs stuck in the cement blocks that she can swim onto to to help her get up.

She also likes the submerged pot a lot to give her a place to hide.

So far so good :D

Thank you everyone for the help and advice.

I hope to have some updated photos soon.

Very nice!

I believe that's a 300 gallon stock tank, not 400 gallon as rubbermaid does not make them in that size.
