Change of Plans - Outdoor Stock Tank
Posted: Wed Sep 23, 2015 12:44 amI made a post in Indoor Habitats not that long ago however I've decided to go a different route after finding a really good deal for a stock tank. It's 110 gallons and I got it for 30 dollars! 
However, my mom thinks it's ugly so it has to go outside.
I live in California so it doesn't get too cold but I'm worried about heating during the winter. We live in apartments and we have bamboo privacy blinds set up so the patio is basically boxed in. On top of that, we have a tarp strung up on the inside of the blinds during the summer to help keep the heat out. I'm not sure how well it keeps out the cold but I was thinking I could try getting another one to put on top of that though I don't know how much that will help.
My main question is, if I have a water heater and heat lamps set up, will my turtle be fine during the winter? I was thinking that if I really needed to I could set up a space heater only I'm worried about fire hazard. Another option I saw is sort of a greenhouse but for outdoor turtle ponds in stock tanks. I could easily set one up around the stock tank to keep in the heat from her heat lamp and the heated water.
Oh, another thing, I was wondering how high of a wattage bulb I should have for the stock tank? Thanks so much in advance for any help you guys give me!
