Ponds and other outdoor enclosures.

Hi guys! It's been a while :)
I was very busy recently with work and studies, but I think I will have a bit more free time now that my work routine is on track! Last time I posted my water pump burnt and my turtles stayed without filters for more than a month. It was difficult but now I have a new pump, works super great, and their tank is as good as ever again :)

Back to the topic!
For about two weeks now, we've had thunders everyday. It's crazy, we've never seen that before, the weather is really weird this year. It made me think if my turtles would be okay during a thunder storm outside. As you know, I plan on building a pond for them in a near future, and now I'm scared if lightning ever touch it, what would happen?
Anyone have experience with this? Is there something I should do if there's thunder or would they be fine?

The chances of lightening striking your turtle pond would be lower than the chance of lightening striking your house; Unless you intend to put a 20' flag pole in the middle of your pond, I can confidently say you shouldn't worry about it. The rapid changes in weather, the loud noises, etc, those would be the primary considerations, but then that's nature and I'm a big fan of not unduly isolating pets from nature unless they were raised in a more controlled environment.

I know there is a low risk, but still, if there's something people due during actual thunderstorm season, the idea is welcomed. ^^ I don't plan on sheltering my turtles from the rain or anything the like, afterall I'm putting them outside so they have the full "natural" life experience! But there are limits and if there's a lot of thunder or a flood, that's a no go lol

Lightning doesn't need to directly strike a pond to cause damage. It would be a rare occurrence but it will likely kill or severely hurt anything in a small pond. Any sort of flooding might be more of a regular concern.

I guess keep an eye on weather reports, make sure there is proper drainage, and any electrical equipment is properly installed.
