I think im just going to get a 50 gal preformed pond for now, then upgrade too a 100 gal when he get older, using the 50 gal as a new inside pond. What do i need to know for a basic pond setup? Do i need a pond liner? Do i need a heater? Would the pond be fine with just those lanscapeing blocks surrounding it, and a filter?
Thanks.

The 50-gallon pond will be outside for now?
Have you looked at some of the other ponds in this forum?
I think a liner depends on how rocky the area is that's dug up (I know some people who haven't used liners and read so some who have).
Where are you located? This is for all-year use? What are the temps where you are?

The pond will stay outside, but i think i'll bring him in for the night time.
Yea i've seen alota the pond pics on this forum.
I'm in florida, and here it's always hot in the 80's or above. Mostly, it's been 84 and up all this week.
And the pond would be above ground on my patio, which is completely flat as cement, made up of lil rocks. And i would bring him inside during the winter.

If the pond is going to be on a surface and not in the ground, you're going to have to support the parts that are raised (unless it's a perfect circle or oval and doesn't have ledges).
You can buy pond kits that will give you instructions on how to set it up.

get a plastic stock tank...
http://www.mytscstore.com/detail.asp?pc ... ctID=15525
and if you want to bring it in at night put it on a cart of some sort for easy moving...
I have a 150 gallon metal stock tank and love it...

Yea, i was looking at the stock tanks. But i have no tractor supply Co. near me, and shipping costs are too high. Thats why i decided on getting a pond at Home Depot, or something. If you find a place near Coral Springs, FL. , Let me know, thanks!
