i'm not sure how to make them but i am almost positive that this will come up:
How big of a tank do you plan to have it in?
Current filtration?
anything else you see fit.
What type of filter do you have now? If you have something like an external canister filter, you can get an XP or Fluval series filter and put some biomedia in it...

Here are some links I am using to help create my own.
If this isn't enough google search "Skippy Filter" and you'll get all kinds of hits.

Basicly you need
1. a pump
2. a container (plantpot, bucket, etc.)
3. Some piping
4. Some scrub pads. (saw one guy use curlers)
5. Some bacteria.
If you search though you will find the answers you're looking for.

I made mine off the skippysstuff.com web site...
Took me about an hour to find all the stuff at home depot. Then another hour to put it together. Super easy & It works great!
