i have always wanted to go swiming with my turtle but i am not sure how it will react with such deep waters and the chlorine. do you think it is a good idea to bring him into the pool?

No. The chlorine will poison the RES.

It would probably stress the turtle out too much, I'd say no. Just my honest opinion.

doesn't mean he wouldn't start.
they see fingers wiggling or hair wiggling and he might think its a worm.

I'd be worried on all that stress that would be put on the turtle. Think about it, you take the turtle out of its tank where its spent all of its life in - and then place it in a huge pool with deep water, the turtle has no clue where the hell its at, and on top of that..theres a giant swimming in their with him! Doesn't sound fun for your turtle, :)

It may be fun for you, but I doubt it would be much fun for your turtle. The water is where they feel safe, but seeing a "giant" (you) in the pool with him, I doubt he's going to stick next to you---he'll probably look for a safe place to hide.

Chlorine is in a pool to disinfect, and the amount used, although not harmful to you, would at the very least be extremely irritating to your turtle for even a short length of time. You say your friend has a nonchlorinated pool (no chlorine to help cut down on the bacteria). Turtles poo a lot (which you can see) and pee even more (which you can't). You really want to be swimming in that water?

people pee in pools all the time and you still swim in that. and still my turtle sees me everyday so i may be a giant to him but im pretty sure him being in his tank im still a giant to him, and when i hold him im still a giant to him.
