I just switched my turtle diet around, but I will put it here for some suggestions on what to maybe change?
1 RES @ 5-6 years ( I can't remember when I got her, and keep forgetting to look up what year it was :$)
She is 4.5 inches long
Lives in a 35-40 gallon tank with some big ( carefully places ) rocks a floating basking rock thingy and 10 rosy reds
Her old diet was pellets every other day, and that was all but I've changed that now.
All of last week she got dandelion greens, every day, a small handful, she loves them, and they seem to have made her a little more energetic. She also got pellets every other day last week, but fewer so I can try to wean her down to more veggies and less pellets.
This week, she had her dandelion greens until yesterday, but I finally went grocery shopping yesterday :$ we have been lazy around here lately lol, so yesterday she got to try red leaf lettuce and a baby carrot
she LOVED both, and it was really neat watching her try to figure out what happened to the carrot pieces, because they sank, and she is used to floating foods lol, she finally found the carrot and ate it all. Today I am thinking of adding a small amount of green or red pepper, and maybe a small piece of cherry as a treat. I am going to continue adding different veggies to her diet, it just means that my boyfriend and i will be eating MUCH more salad lol.
Treats used to be snails, but I can never seem to find any at our local pet store, however I can get some from the lake now and she liked those alot last time I got them. I had added 12 rosy reds to her tank as a source of food, entertainment and fun, there are 10 left, and she has no real interest in them, she occasionally tries to corner one, but usually fails lol.
If you have any suggestions for good things to introduce that might benefit a veggie deprived ( until now) female RES to get back on track of a proper diet, please feel free to let me know here or pm me
thanks so much for this topic also, its been so helpful!
