So I went to the zoo a few weeks ago and they had a tank of small turtles all chomping away on a whole hollowed out pumpkin! I've only got one turtle but I wondered if I used a small squash could I do the same thing? Is it safe for them to eat uncooked squash and would I need to take it out after a few hours so she didn't eat the whole thing?

I thought it might be a interesting way for her to feed (tackling a whole veg) rather than just getting fed conveniently cut up chunks.

Uncooked should be OK, steaming it can make it easier to eat. As for leaving food in there... it depends on the turtle but I can't do it with my RES.
