Feeding a 2-3 month old hatchling half pellets?

I bought a red ear slider not so long ago, and it is just over an inch long. Now, the first week I tried feeding it regular pellets, but it's mouth wasn't big enough to eat them, so, it takes a bite and the rest of the pellet sinks and dirties the tank. Therefore, what I've been doing is breaking the pellets in half or thirds and feeding them to it one by one. I wait for my turtle to finish the half/third pellet before dropping in a new one. This way I can ensure it is eating, and the tank stays cleaner. However, lately a friend of mine says that it is not good to feed them these half pellets. He didn't really tell me why, but he said they could fall sick or something. This is either a really dumb question or a big lesson I'm going to learn from this lol. My turtle has been eating these half pellets normally for quite a few weeks now.

What brand pellets? I don't see what a turtle pellet broken in half has anything to do with it's safety or how it can make them sick. I guess the lesson is be careful of your friend's advice :)

Try omega one juvenile formula. They are real small and real good for your turtle also. Its what I feed my male Mississippi. He is just a little turtle. He loves them. I feed all my turtles omega one brand. Half pellets are fine. Is it Reptomin?

The Reptomin I used to get would get so soggy quickly. I can't believe I used it for that long.

I really like Omega One and have no problem recommending it. I've been trying to sell several large Reptomin on Craig's list. I can't even give it away ;-)

Any local ponds? On the rare occasion I swing by Central Park, I bring a bag for them. They definitely know what they are since most of them probably had keepers. :)
