I am quite fortunate to be able to pick fresh veggies for my turtle in my mother in law's garden. Shes got a new type of kale, called black kale, but i can't find any info if its okay to feed my turtle or if its in the same category as just plain normal kale. Does anyone here know? I

Haven't heard of it but kale is usually on the "avoid" list anyway.

Yeah i know, because the dark leafy greens is known to have high oxalate levels. But it actually seems like from a research point of view that kale is actually quite low on oxalates, and when you steam it 5-8 min bafore use, you can actually get rid of most of the oxalic acid the veggies have. That kale being high on oxalic acid is a myth.
I do not feed my turtle kale as a staple though. Now and then i steam a small amount and add to his Jello shots, where red leaf lettuce is the dominant ingredient part. Was just curious when i saw the black kale in the garden, and the difference in texture, shape and form from the regular kale, and if anyone knew. Wouldnt feed my turtle something im not sure of :)

Found on the black Kale and kale in general.
0.2 g/100 g of oxalic acid in kale, vs 0.97/100g in spinach.
Just putting this here, so other people can see.
