I have the Tetra aqua safe also. It seems to be fine. I can't say that it's any better or worse than other products though. It's the only thing I've used so far. (For my Bettas I would just let the water sit for 24 hours. Not very practical when you're talking about many many gallons of water though!)

I use ZooMed Reptisafe in my reptile/amphibian water. Supposedly it has the added benefits of reducing ammonia, adding electrolytes and calcium...etc.

I use API Stress Coat for fish tanks. I do complete water changes for the Betta so I use API Ammonia Lock since I am not trying to cycle the bowl. The 20 gallon w/ the Goldfish is cycled so the only thing other than the Stress Coat I use is Aquarium Salt. Well, sometimes a clarifier.

I have used the Stress Coat in the turtle tank (the smaller one I used to have) when I ran out of Reptisafe, and thought the Aloe left a film. It could certainly be useful in certain situations though. A while back a member here had a turtle with burns and I suggested Stress coat specifically for the aloe and he reported back that it did seem to help. :)

Ok here me out when i say this :)

I "Heard" that most items from zoo med are not that good, the only good product is the dock, the filter is horrible i have a 10gallon and i use a Whisper 10i insted of a Zoomed filter.

"Testing and treatment (Water conditioners)
Fundamentally, water should be tested for ammonia, hardness, nitrites and nitrates, and pH levels and treated for chlorine and chloramine. Various test kits are available and there are treatment options to create specific water conditions. While regular water changes will help reduce harmful ammonia and nitrite levels, it is recommended that you be aware of what is in the water you choose to use for your turtle.

Medicated blocks (usually in the shape of a white turtle), either described as a calcium supplement, sulfur medication or water conditioner should not be used. They are not proven to provide any benefit and in some cases have negative results. Other treatments aimed at reducing ammonia, algae or removing waste should be avoided, as regular water changes are much safer and healthier. "

Yeah, no, the Reptisafe isn't one of those little turtle shaped blocks, it's a liquid water conditioner made for reptiles as opposed to made for fish.

As for ZooMed's products in general, yeah those filters really suck, but I've used other products with success, I use Eco Earth, Eco Carpet, ReptiTherm UTHs, some of their canned foods...and I have had great results from their Powersun MVBs.

I've been using Aqua Plus for the last little while. Picked up a big jug of it for a good price on boxing day. The pump is really handy, rather than measuring it out in the lid.

I also had some Petcetera water conditioner I picked up for about 50cents/bottle when they had their liquidation.

I've stopped using a dechlorinator, but used Reptisafe previously without any issues.

I used API Tap water conditioner. It works fine for me since I can put that in and then 4 minutes later, I can put gold fishes in it without them dying from the chlorine. I rather have the gold fish die from chlorine then let my turtles kill them then die from eating them.
API is the same company that makes RENA filters and some test kits.

LOL you may think feeding tongs are a luxury, but they are essential for feeding some critters, like my Pyxie Frog Francis!

The chlorine evaporates within 24hrs and I haven't been strict with the bio media upkeep.
