In case anyone was wondering how it looks before/after regeneration. The lighting in the pic is a bit darker than what it should be.

I've been using Purigen for years and love the stuff. How would you rate your experience with it?

It's been positive. I don't regularly monitor or test the water parameters, but it's easy to maintain and I do think it's helped with water quality.

I'm also a huge fan, this stuff gets the water crystal clear in a few hours.

I've never been able to get it back to pure white like that after a few re-gens.
How long do you use your purigen for steve?

This was only the second re-gen. I did realize that I need to rinse it 2 or 3 times during the process because a few granules would stick together and not be exposed to the bleach.

I'm still new to it, but I believe you're only supposed to regenerate 10-12 times. I use 2 sets, one is cleaned and put into the fridge, the other goes into the filter.

It's different than carbon. Purigen is more targeted toward dissolved organics while activated carbon is a little less selective.
Purigen will not remove chlorine, chloramine, and some medications as well as carbon. Carbon doesn't do a great job on tannins and other organic dissolved organic matter.

I use both. the carbon pouch and a purigen pouch in a basket. I have a couple extra packs and usually put it in a bowl of 1/2 bleach 1/2 water over night and then just rinse it well before putting it in a sandwich baggie under the sink. The stuff smell horrible even after being bleached. I mean it is some nasty smelling stuff but it sure works great!

I change mine out every 2 weeks to a month

@Into_the_Mystic - I believe it's recommended to use purified or filtered water in the baggie and storing it in the refrigerator. How big is your tank?

@Starscream - It's better to have carbon but as noted, Purigen helps with water quality plus and you can reuse it. Carbon needs to be replaced regularly.

The main thing is that it is stored wet. Refrigeration I suppose helps prevent mold/mildew growth.

Yes. I makes sure there is some (not much) water in the baggies. I put mine in the fridge after you saying we should.
