Hello all,

My bio media balls have discharge of white powdery stuffs.
Wonder what this is?!
I'm afraid of putting my res inside, whether it will be harmful to him. Even worse, if he eats/ drinks it down

Please advise!

Anything change recently, even a water change? Are the media balls new? What material are they made of? Is the discharge only in water or it powdery?

bio balls are usually plastic and designed for a trickle filter in a sump. Ceramic rings are designed to be submerged and can sometimes give off a white powder when they are new and need to be rinsed. Can you post a picture?
