Calci-sand? Most animals are known to eat it and become impacted.

They had several different types of sand at my branch. They did have that too. But I saw
Vita-sand. I don't know I think sand is too messy.

Sand with vitamins? - The marketing people must be working overtime to come up with this stuff!

As far as the filter goes, it seems to me that most filters do not create enough current in the tank to suspend the sand in the water enough to get it into the filter. We have some small amounts of sand in the bottom of ours and no problems

But could you imagine cleaning turtle poop out of sand and having to do full water changes? Ick, just too much work for me.

I use a gravity fed gravel vacuum and it does not have enough suction to get the sand so it pulls the lighter poop an shed material out.

*grumbles* I think I need a different filter. Mine broke and was leaking everywhere so i ran to the store to get a new one and it doesn't even get the sheding
