Here's how I had Ralph's semi-in tank basking area for years. (can easily be moved down to be completely in tank)
It's hard to see from the pics, but it's a piece of egg crate that is longer than the tank is wide. I put the egg crate on an angle, and support the back side with a suction cup. The top side stays up because of friction.
Worked well because it was simple, and doesn't take up any swimming area. It also sort of doubles as a underwater platform - that's where Ralph always used to sleep.

YAY!! glad I could help. Make sure you find some kind of file to file down the sides once you cut the egg crate t size. Filing down the edges helped me make it tight fit. After I put it in I discovered that I prob didnt need the PVC pipe legs but I rather have the legs for extra support.

My dad has the PVC pipe left over from a previous project. But you can get it at Home Depot or Lowes. I hope you have a table saw, made cutting the PVC pipe fast and easy. I LOVE using power!! haha
Made a change, I re-zip tied some of those jar grips onto the ramp, it gives Lizzy more traction. I caught her climbing up the ramp a couple of times today. Its a start!
