hello!

i just signed up on this site a minute ago, i found it googling around for info about my red eared slider...i'm familiar with forums, just not this one, i'm a noob, be nice please :)

so i just cleaned his tank out today & i noticed a lot of white filmy stuff around his neck & on his legs, i keep him in the bathtub while cleaning his tank & when i went to get him back out it was like hanging off of him. i tried to pull it, it was slimy, i ran a little bit of water over him from the faucet & it seemed to help, a good bit came off of him.

i just went out for a few hours, came back home, & there is some floating in his tank & around his neck again...i just read to give him a warm salt water bath for about a half hour, which i'm going to do now.

how can i tell if it's his skin shedding or if it's a fungal infection? :(

Well first of all i must say hopefully you wash your bathtub after he is removed? because i dont think people will like bathing in turtle water if you know what i mean.

can you post a pic of his neck?

hahaha oh yes, i scrub it out after i'm done! once it gets warmer & stores start selling baby pools i'm going to get one to keep him in...i just don't have anything except like coolers & garbage cans that i could keep him in while i clean the tank, haha.

yes, i'm going to take one now, & then try to figure out how to post it on here... can i upload on tinypic.com & just use the link they give you for forums?

Could be shedding. Is she scratching it?

Nope, he doesn't seem to mind that it's there, he hasn't scratched at it or anything.

That looks like shredded skin to me.

Hm...could his skin be shedding because he's eating too much/growing? Or could it have something to do with his basking area not being warm enough?

What's your water temperature? Sometimes shedding is triggered by water that is a little too warm. Could also be overfeeding.
